Attractive Design:

E5520 has been designed to have a friendly but a professional look. Personally this design is best among all the other 'E' series designs so far. The back of the laptop has a got a brushed look and has a 360 degree bumper for protecting screen against excessive tilt. Another attractive feature of the laptop design is its backlit keyboard* that would let you work through the night with good visibility.

Durability:

E5520 has several extra features when it comes to durability of the machine. The 1st feature that adds to durability is the steel hinge installed on each side of the system that will protect against getting the screen loose. I will mention it here that Dell has had a lot of complaints about screen getting loose if you tilt it to adjust it too often.

Another feature is the spill resistant keyboard. Now you don’t have to worry about water or other liquid seeping down and damaging your system.

Productivity & Security:

This machine is sure productive, its specifications clearly indicate that. Having a num pad might be an added advantage for many people having business needs in mind. Overall its processor, RAM and other features surely make up a good laptop. Its 15.6” HD, WLED screen would be an attractive feature for many students and graphics designers too. Its screen also offers a tilt angle of 180 degrees giving you a full control over the position of you display according to ease.

Dell has shown some serious security features in this model. Dell has pre installed its security software named 'Dell Data Protection Encryption', 'Dell's Fast Response Free-Fall Sensor and StrikeZone' and 'Dell Data Protection Access'. The software are meant for data protection, data recovering and backup and login security respectively.

Graphics:

The system has Intel HD graphics card and the sad part is that Dell does not let you choose a better version even if you customize your system. Although its performance is also not so bad but some will still argue that the HD WLED screen would have been better utilized if a state of art ATI Radeon or NVIDIA card had been installed or even just available for upgrade.

Battery Life:

Dell offers a range of batteries with this laptop, you can choose 4-cell, 6-cell or a 9-cell battery. For those who don’t know, 9 -cell battery would give a maximum time of about 5 hours if you use the laptop in the 'save battery' mode and run no heavy applications. Dell has seen very less complaints as far as the batteries are concerned.

Up-gradation:

The system can be massively up graded. The following features can be upgraded;

· Processor upto i7

· RAM upto 8GB

· Hard Disk upto 500GB

· Battery upto 9 cell

· Bluetooth

· Display resolution increased to 1920 x 1080

Overall the system suits any student or businessman who is willing to work with a little less power but quality hardware.
